Collaborating For Change | Toronto Photographer of Children and Creativity Melanie Gordon

Three Collaborations Making a Difference

One of my goals for the year is to make a bigger impact through creative collaborations. As humans we are meant to work together to survive and thrive. It is our nature. We forget this sometimes.

1. Working Together to Empower Adults

I am grateful to know so many incredible women who are coming into or are in their “power years” as Sara Smeaton calls them. Sara is a Toronto-based Certified Midlife Coach and one of the amazing women who I’m collaborating with to make a greater impact. Jennifer Ziliotto is also joining us to offer Midlife Milestone Sessions. Jennifer is a fashion designer, illustrator, style expert, and wardrobe consultant. We are working together to offer a powerful trilogy of transformational sessions for women who are ready to own their power and purpose.

2. Working Together to Empower Children

I am also thrilled to announce an upcoming partnership with mini mioche to offer Friendship Portrait Sessions – very special sessions for children and their best buds – Coming in March!

Alyssa Kerbel started mini mioche 11 years ago with the goal of creating a better future for children by growing a business that has integrity and makes a positive impact on people and the planet. I’m honoured to be working with Alyssa and her team to celebrate childhood friendships and to empower kids to make choices that make the world better.

$50 from each Friendship Session will to go to a charity that the kids will choose. I’ll be sharing a Children’s Guide to Giving as a starting point for kids to decide where they want their donation to go.

I’d love to hear from you with answers from your children for these questions:
What does it mean to be a friend?
What does it mean to be a good citizen?
What do you think needs to be changed in the world?

You can info(Replace this parenthesis with the \'at\' sign)melaniegordon.com with any insights that come from these conversations with your children. Thank you!

I’ll be announcing these sessions soon.  Join my list to be the first to hear!

3. Walk, Stop, and Wonder: Connecting parents and children through mindful photography walks

You will hear more about this soon, but I’m thrilled to be part of the programming for this year’s WeeFestival AND the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival. I’ll be leading a series of mindful photography walks for parents and young children in April in Toronto parks.

Your kids will love the walk and the conversation with you about what they notice. The photography part is for parents – using your smart phone or other camera, I’ll invite you to photograph what you imagine what your child sees and how they are experiencing the world. I’ll gather the photos you make for a powerful exhibit for the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival at the Theatre Centre in May.

To participate, subscribe to my Walk-Stop-And-Wonder list to find out where and when the walks will happen and to receive weekly creative prompts. You can join me and other families in person or you can do the prompts on your own or with families you know on your own time. The first prompt will go out at the end of March. Hope you can join me!
